Fashion Model: CHANEL IMAN

Fashion Model: CHANEL IMAN

She got her start in 2006 and has been walking the catwalks of the world ever since. Chanel Iman is only 19 years old and has already modeled for such designers as; Marc Jacobs, D&G, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren, Chanel, and so many more. She is a constant fixture in the magazine especially in Teen Vogue where she has both modeled and more recently worked as an intern (http://www.teenvogue.com/teamvogue/blogs/intern/2009/06/special-guest-intern-chanel-iman.html)

Chanel Iman is of African-American/Korean American decent. She was born in Atlanta Georgia, but she considers Los Angeles home. She is named after the great Coco Chanel. She has great style and loves what she does. Chanel has made headlines for her different modeling jobs. One was when she was featured on the cover of the May 2007 US Vogue with other models who were being presented as the next batch of the worlds supermodels.

I first learned of Chanel on an episode of the Tyra Banks show where she was being intervied alongside her mother. Chanel Iman has a bright future ahead of her and I look forward to following along with the rest of the world. Chanel Iman is a model for all of us to know!

Business Casual: Part 1

I go to a lot of business events around campus and the attire a lot of the times is business professional. Which is what everyone around me seems to know the appropriate attire to wear. Then an event will throw us all a curve ball and say the attire is business casual. Everyone panics and goes into a big debate about what business casual actually is. I of course am able to settle all of the arguing by explaining what business casual is. So Here is what business casual basics for Men and women.

Business casual guidelines for men and women

Business casual is crisp, neat, and should look appropriate even for a chance meeting with a CEO. It should not look like cocktail or party or picnic attire. Avoid tight or baggy clothing; business casual is classic rather than trendy.

Basics: Khaki pants, neatly pressed, and a pressed long-sleeved, buttoned solid shirt are safe for both men and women. Polo/golf shirts, unwrinkled, are an appropriate choice if you know the environment will be quite casual, outdoors or in a very hot location. This may not seem like terribly exciting attire, but you are not trying to stand out for your cutting edge look, but for your good judgment in a business environment.

Shoes / belt: Wear a leather belt and leather shoes. Athletic shoes are inappropriate.

Details: Everything should be clean, well pressed, and not show wear. Even the nicest khakis after 100 washings may not be your best choice for a reception. Carefully inspect new clothes for tags, and all clothes for dangling threads, etc. (as with interview attire).

Business Casual Part 2 is coming soon Fashionable Thinkers!

Contrary to popular belief...

HG and I did not get into a fight and decided to stop working together on I am Fashion and started our own blogs instead. (Even our mutual friends wondered about it!) We still email each other daily about the intricate details of our lives and random thoughts we have, and feel extremely empty when the other is away and has no access to the internet. When I freak out, she is the first person I call and she is still my maid of honor when I fantasize about my wedding. Our reasons for closing down I am Fashion still stands, though I do think that my later rationalization of it in this blog is a better articulation of how we feel.

As for us continuing to blog even more regularly than before, I attribute it to the "newness" of our blogs. Starting a new blog is like starting a relationship. At the beginning everything is new and exciting as you get to know the other person and watch your relationship grow and mature. Every up and every down is a significant moment. Then the honeymoon phase eventually wears off and you reach a happy medium, where your relationship becomes a part of your daily life. With any luck, you will live happily ever after in this state with a few surprises here and there to spice up the norm. If not, your relationship will wane and you grow apart, eventually deciding that you are both better off parting ways.

Clearly I'm in the honeymoon phase. We are starting to explore new things together, trying to figure out what works best for the both of us. Every new post is an adventure. Every comment and email is exciting. I want to spend every moment of everyday with it, checking on its progress i.e. stalking the traffic, the incoming and outgoing links etc. It's an exhilarating feeling that I'd almost forgotten about!

Analogy aside, it is heartwarming to read everyone's encouraging comments and to know that we were able to leave a small footprint on some people's lives. We appreciate your support and remember that we've not left the blogging world for good. Come visit us some time at our new blogs -(Find the links to our new blogs in the post below). We miss you guys!
