Fashion Resolutions

I don't make traditional resolutions, but why not start out 2011 with some quick and easy fashion resolutions!

Wear Pretty Under Garments!

So the photo above is a bit extreme. But the only person who said it doesn't matter what your bra and panties look like was your mom in 1988. If you always rock the VS cotton panties and solid color bras, live on the edge. Purchase a set full of lace and trim and wear it on a random Wednesday to work or to Walmart!

Wear More Accessories!

Adding accessories to your wardrobe is a quick and easy way to remix your clothes. I'm going to challenge myself to purchase less clothes in 2011, (yeah right, but go with me) and splurge on more accessories- belts, scarfs, shoes, bracelets, necklaces, hats, etc. so I can reduce, reuse, recycle my clothes.

Organize Your Closet!

You may not have a closet the size of a celebrity, but that doesn't mean it can't be organized. An organized closet makes it easier for you to 'shop' your closet. If you're OCD like me, you can arrange your clothes by color or group things by category. You'll soon discover you already own 8 white blouses and probably don't need anymore.

Dress Up for No Reason!

Lucille, my grandmother, use to over dress for every occasion. Hat, gloves, scarf, purse, jewelry, makeup, nails, perfume, SJK Suit, just to go to the grocery store. I thought is was so odd as a child. One day I asked her why she always overdressed. Her reply, "Cause I can!" You don't need a reason to wear all that stuff in your closet you already paid for, other than you can. Don't let it go to waste next year. So when you are heading out to dinner or drinks with the girls, swap out the ever faithful and comfy leggings and blazer for a dress!

Try Something New!
Take a cue from Rihanna. She tries a new hair style every 7 days! Maybe you can't dye your hair red, but if you wear glasses, get contacts; If you always wear pants, try a dress; if you live in flats or flip-flops, try heels; if you're relaxed, go natural; Sans makeup, try on some lipstick! I don't know what it is for you, but try something new. You may find that you like it. And if you don't, at least you tried.

Pamper Yourself!
Massage, mani-pedi, facials, blowout, makeup artist, dermatologist/esthetician, etc. Treat yourself once in a while next year. You deserve it for just for being you! If you can't spend a lot of extra money, at least splurge on nice beauty and bath products, purchase nice sheets and towels, or just take time out of your busy schedule to have quiet time at home.
