Ernest Boniface Makulilo...Young Intelluctual who is always happy to help others through scholarships.

Who is he???
His name is Ernest Boniface Makulilo although many people call him with his alias, Makulilo, Jr.
He is a Scholarship Blogger, a PHD student, a father of one and a husband.

Makulilo is always thankful and happy because what he always dreaming have been in success and he thinks there are a lot more to come even more than what he was dreaming.

His journey through success
Makulilo says 'a human dream is always changing according to age and life experience, and to have a dream depends on who inspires you.
Makulilo was always dreaming to be a lawyer, and this has been inspired by his family-his brothers and sisters. But his dream changed when he applied for his B.A studies at the University of Dar Es Salaam, he was selected to join B.A Political Science and Language instead of his first selection, Law. Then, Makulilo says he changed his dream from being a lawyer into being a Political Science professor.
In 2007 when he was in a second year, Makulilo did his field work (internship) at UNHCR-Kigoma, a UN Refugee Agency. There, he was supervised by a 25 years girl from Netherlands, Marjolijn Luchtmeijer. She inspired him so much because she was so young, educated and she knew so many things about International Conflicts and Conflict Resolution. This changed Makulilo’s dream he started dreaming about study and/ work with Conflict Resolution or somewhere in International Level. Marjolijn gave him links for M.A studies scholarships.
On his wedding day, May 1st 2010

After he returned back to Dar es Salaam Makulilo started working with his dream. He first of all bought internet package and connect it from his room. The aim was to get internet access and apply for scholarships. In searching, he found Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA), a one year work contact in USA. He applied and been selected to teach Swahili at the University of Marshall, West Virginia. As soon as he finished his B.A studies (June 2008) at the University of Dar Es Salaam he went to USA to start working. Makulilo says that many people didn’t have the ‘learning Swahili morale’ so they changed their contract and start working into Global Connection- Discover Africa course from August 2008-May 2009.  There, has been inspired by Steve Jobs (CEO Apple), who was talking about connecting the dots ‘You cannot connect the dots by looking forward, you have to look backward to connect the dots’.

However Makulilo didn’t rest, he kept searching for M.A scholarships. He got 2 YES out of 25 scholarships he applied from USA and Europe Universities. He chose University of San Diego because he says it was having a big fund package (Joan B Kroc Scholarship $36,000 and Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship $24,000). So he joined M.A Peace and Justice Studies, majoring in Conflict Analysis and Resolution in 2009-2010. He also got married to Marie Anna Makulilo in May 1st 2010. Now Makulilo is doing his PHD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution at Nova Southeastern University in Florida
May 2010 After getting M.A Peace and Justice

Makulilo is happy for what he has been achieving in his life. However Makulilo says that his success doesn’t mean he is lucky or because he is having someone to help him but;
 1. he has been inspired by Seneca ( a mid-1st century AD Roman Philosopher) who said ‘Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity’ So do not wait for what is called “luck”
 2. he believes in hard work (hard work pays)
 3. he is free to choose what he likes
 4. he finds his strategies to achieve his dreams and goals
 5. he put deadlines
 6. he has means of accountability i.e telling his friends what is his dream because there will be those who will challenge you, who will criticize you and who will encourage you
7. he believes his God and God’s blessings
8. he sets goals and/or dreams

It is the honour of both Saint Benedict od Nursia and Pope Benedict XVI. And the name FULBRIGHT is in honour of the prestigious  FULBRIGHT scholarship. Fulbright scholarship is the scholarship which has been named after William James Fulbright, and it has lot of meaning in realizing my dreams Today. And Makulilo is the honor of unsung hero Boniface Makulilo, his father.

Makulilo and his wife Marie

All these are the scholarship blogs. He says it’s not because he is very clever to get the scholarship that paid him more than USD 100,000. He instead believes that, God has given him so that he can also help and inspire others. He is also very happy to be good others perfect mirror and good example. Many people especially from Third World Countries, Tanzania, for instance believe that to study in USA, Canada and Europe one needs to be from a very rich or political family. This is NOT true at all. Makulilo is a true example coming from non political and poor family.
