I'm Right on Top of That Rose!

Modern adaptation of Don't Tell Mom The Babysitters Dead from ASOS.........

For those who are can't remember the movie, Sue Ellen, played by Christina Applegate, is force to get a job to support her and her siblings when the babysitter that was taking care of them dies. She lands a job in the booming 80's economy as an assistant to an executive in the fashion industry. Many chic 80's outfits later, Sue Ellen finds herself overwhelmed by all the responsibility. The only thing that she can say to get her boss off her back is- "I'm right on top of that Rose!"

Age Ain't Nothin' But a #

"So we livin' life like a video
Where the sun is always out and you never get old
and the champagne is always cold and the music is always good
and the pretty girls just happen to stop by in the hood" #foreveryoung

This PYT is Ruth Flowers, aka Mama Rocks. She's a 70 year old DJ from London. She'd "rather sign a contract with a record company, than sign up for a nursing home." She just started DJ'ing about 4 years ago.  So the next time you let someone talk you out of trying something new, SHAME ON YOU!!! Check out her website for more info.

My friend Jess and I were looking @ photos on YBF of Evelyn Lozada from Basketball Wives. She always looks fly! Shaunie too...While out and about in MIA, she rocked Louboutin Knotted Peep toe sandals, Louis Vuitton Limelight Clutch in perle, and a House of God's tee.

Forever 21 Mami

Attention Soon-To-Be Mama......Important fashion news!! It appears Forever 21 is joining the ranks of Target and H&M, and getting that belly of yours covered with a maternity line called LOVE 21 Maternity.

The maternity line seems to have good basics right now, leggings and t's, and they plan on adding denim. I often hear pregnant women at my job and my bestie Lisa say that investing in clothes is a tough decision since your belly is constantly growing. The price point of Forever 21 is so great, that there isn't a lot of pressure to borrow hand me downs from your sister or friend who was pregnant back in the summer of 1999. Check out a few of the items:

DISCLAIMER: if you aren't preggers, you don't need to be over in that section. Liz Lane at Target has fooled me a couple of times, and I had to gently back up off the rack. BUT for the record, maternity jeans look real comfortable LOL

Vogue Africa?????

I was sooooo excited about the possibility of a Vogue magazine in Africa......dream deferred. Cameroonian photographer Mario Epanya, created fictional covers featuring gorgeous models in hopes of purchasing a license from Conde Nast for Vogue Africa. But it didn't happen. The covers look amazing though.

Orange You Glad You're Mine

Well.....not quite yet. They say some things in life are worth waiting for, but if you ask me I'm ready (in AK voice). Having a Hermes kinda day......Where's Waldo Hermes???

Product Review: Nars Body Glow

Even though I'm a brown skin sister, I still want to look like a bronzed goddess (think Jada Pinkett-Smith). I've tried a lot of bronzing products ranging from Bliss, to MAC, to Jergens. I've been really curious to try Nars Body Glow. On a recent trip to T.J. Maxx, I came across a miniature set for $10!!!!! The mini set is super hard to find so I was excited to try!

The box set includes a 1 oz bottle of Monoï de Tahiti oil. The Monoï oil has an Tiare flower (Tahitian gardenia) that is refined in coconut extract for at least ten days, which slowly infuses the oil with nutrients as well as the gardenia scent. It helps moisturize the skin and protect the skin against daily environmental aggressions. The 1 oz Body Glow combines the deeply hydrating oil with a drop of vanilla essence and a chocolate shimmer, to impart a glistening, golden glow.

The Good: It definitely gives a good shine without the thickness of Vaseline Coco Butter gel (which I actually love). I also think the scent is really nice and works well if layered with spicy perfume. Once the bronzer dries, it doesn't rub off on clothes, which is nice.

The Not So Good: It doesn't really provide a huge amount of bronzing on my skin. More of a finish, and the glow doesn't last long. My right leg has the bronzer on and you can barely tell. My camera isn't that great but you don't see a deep color.

I like the scent so I will continue to use, but I would not recommend to anyone who has brown skin and wants a bronzed look. I have a list of other bronzers that I'm going to try: Body Shop Body and Leg Shine and Body Bling. I'll keep you posted!
