How It's Done: First Lady Michelle Obama at the WH State Dinner

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama hosted a State Dinner last night at the WH for the President of Mexico, Felipe Calderon and his wife Margarita Zavala. First Lady Michelle Obama looked A-MAZING (had to bring back the Rachel Zoe voice) in a blue Peter Soronen gown. I love the corset top, one shoulder silhouette, hair, and accessories. Very fashion forward.

Check our other guest in their Sunday best:

Beyonce, who performed for guest, was apparently there with Jay.

Eva Longgoria-Parker

Mayor of Newark, New Jersey, Cory Booker and Gayle King

U.S. Olympic Short Track Speedskating medalist Shani Davis

Actress Whoopi Goldberg. So obvious Andre Leon Talley had something to do with this...

U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk and Elizabeth Kirk. Nice dress!

P.S. For all the Top Chef Masters fans, the guest chef was Rick Bayless, whose Mexican restaurant in Chicago, Topolobampo, was a favorite of the Obamas.

Wellness Wednesday: Eat The Rainbow

As a child, I spent many-a-nights sitting at the kitchen table till dark because I didn't want to eat my vegetables at dinner. As an adult, I now understand why I was forced to eat up! Fruits and vegetables are great sources of many vitamins, minerals, and other natural substances that may help protect you from chronic diseases. To get a good variety or fruits and veggies, think color:

Orange & Yellow: carrots, oranges, bell peppers, squash, sweet potatoes
This group is rich in vitamin C which helps boost your body’s immune system, helps with some of the effects of natural aging problems, and lowers the risk of some cancers. The body does not produce vitamin C on its own, nor does it store it. So it's important to include plenty of vitamin C containing foods in your daily diet. This group also contains vitamin A, which safeguards your vision.

Reds: apples, strawberry's, tomatoes, raspberries, watermelon, pomegranate, radishes
This group contains lycopene that helps reduce the risk of certain type of cancers, including prostate cancer (tell the men)! They also contain anthocyanins that are powerful antioxidants that help reduce the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes related problems.

Greens: broccoli, collard greens, spinach, green apples, kiwi, cucumbers
This group is often called "vitamin vessels," as they help the body absorb other vitamins and nutrients. They are rich in fiber, folic acid, calcium, beta-carotene and vitamins C. They also contains lutein and indoles, which some people say make them great antioxidants. They offer the body strength, healthy vision, and amazing healing abilities.

Olivia Palermo's Jewelry Line...and a Brief Recap of "The City"

So it seems Queen "B", Olivia Palermo, isn't totally clueless after all. Apparently she can add jewelry designer in front of her ELLE job title. Olivia collaborated with Roberta Freymann to create hand embroidered bib necklaces. Prices for the pieces range from $175 to $300. I guess if you are over the age of 3 and still desire to wear a bib, it should be jeweled...HAHA.

If you watch "The City" on MTV,  you are aware of her work habits, which keep me entertained. Last week, Kelly Cutrone gave Whitney some advice on dealing with Olivia's antics.

1-"I'm gonna set this really straight. You need to go there and take this b**h out. No, no, no, no ... She's under your skin so now what you have to say [is], 'I'm not this nice blond that you think I am from California. An now you're gonna meet the real me.' Cuz you have to let people who are toxic and dangerous to you know that you will f**king fight back. Cuz you know where nice people end up? On welfare."

2- "Who gives a f**k about [Olivia's] f**king opinion? I really ... who gives a f**k about her opinion? No, she's dead! She is f**king dead! Because I'm gonna f**king come up like a shark underneath a glass bottom boat and f**king whip the s**t out of her."

3-"[Olivia] is professionally dangerous to you. She's like a little petty tyrant. Scare the s**t out of her, and don't ever do it on email or do it in writing."

Do you think Kelly was too harsh, or right on point?

Summer Wedges

One of my friends is looking for a pair of nude/tan wedges to wear this summer. Wedges are a quintessential summer must have item since they can be dressed up or down. Nude is the perfect color since they can be worn with practically everything! Last week I saw a pair of Jil Sander Cross Wedge sandals (above) that were f-a-b-o-l-o-u-s, but the price was i-m-p-r-a-c-t-i-c-a-l, $575. My friend is looking for something more affordable. Here's what I've found:

Nine West Getby Sandals, $79

Wanted Samantha Sandals, $50

Nine West Ponti Sandals, $89

Festa Milano Sienna Sandals, $154.99

MICHEAL Michael Kors Amber Sandals, $134.95

If You Believe....RIP Lena Horne

Like most people, I was sadden by the lost of Lena Horne. As my grandma would say, "they don't make um' like her anymore." As a singer, actress, and activist, she epitomized what it meant to be a woman. She was so elegant, classy, glamorous and graceful. I remember being memorized by her voice in The Wiz (which is still one of my favorite movies).  As Glenda the Good Witch, she sung "If You Believe" which had me really believing in something at age 7.

Lace Up Your Kicks

Over the past year, high end sneakers have become a popular trend for women shoe designers. From Lavin to Louboutin, and now Jimmy Choo. Choo's pre-fall collection will be available at all Jimmy Choo stores and the online store this month.

While the Jimmy Choo kicks are cute, I'm loving UES denim hightop sneakers with chains. UES stands for Upper Echelon Shoes and  they make high and low top sneakers, but with an edge.
