I Know Why The Cage Bird Sings

I spy actress/singer J.Lo aka Jenny from tha block aka Cassie's new idol aka Jennifer Lopez, looking flawless with her signature pose and pouty lips! She was promoting her upcoming movie, 'The Back-up Plan' wearing Sergio Rossi Cage Sandals. I love the scalloped design and T-strap. These would go with everything (why do we tell ourselves that knowing they go with 1, maybe 2 things we own).

The Sergio sandals can break the piggy bank, so here is an inspiration look. They have a similar t-straps style, snakeskin embossed leather and stone detail instead of scallop design:

How Will Your Spring Smelll??

With spring only one day away, I've been thinking about how I want to smell (good of course). Like most women, I have several obsessions, and one is FRAGRANCE. I have my top 3 fragrances that I will forever LUV, but a few others that I would "throw in the bag"!!!

1. Marc Jacobs- I discovered this scent in 2003, and have declared it my signature scent ever since. It's a classic, uncomplicated fragrance that's great for every occasion. It has notes of gardenias that you will smell all day.

2. Prada Infusion d'Iris-This was a recent addition, and the scent I plan on rocking this spring. It's a very modern, clean, light scent. It has notes of mandarin, orange blossom, and iris. I noticed today that it's pretty long lasting, so a great scent to take you from day to night.

3. Tom Ford Black Orchid-This is probably one of the strongest scents I have. It's very warm, woody, and sweet. It has strong notes of ylang-ylang, bergamot, black currant, and orchid. Since it's so strong, I normally wear it out at night.

3b. J'adore by Christian Dior-This fragrance has notes of floral orchids, violets, rose and blackberry musk. It's very feminine and reminds me of a fresh floral bouquet. Just like Marc Jacobs, it's a great scent to wear for any occasion.

4. Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy- I was actually quite shocked I liked this scent. I received a gift card to TJ Maxx and purchased this scent thinking it was Juicy Couture, not Viva La Juicy. But it's a fun scent with dominant notes of wild berries and mandarins. It has undertones of honeysuckle and gardenia, which I love. The bottle is almost empty which is a testimony to how great it smells!

5. John Varvatos- Not a lot of women wear this scent. Maybe I'm the only one that likes it. Can't say the same for men though; pretty popular. I find myself grabbing it when I don't know what mood I'm in. The notes of grappa, apricot, plum,  and mandarin, will always make you feel confident and unique.

Here are some scents that I want to add to my tray....
Fragrance notes: Pink Pepper, Pear And Grapefruit

Fragrance notes: Peach, Melon, Apple, Rose and Jasmine

Fragrance Notes: Citruses, Peony, Rose, Osmanthus, Patchouli, and Sandalwood

I don't believe the myth that a women should have just one signature fragrance that she wears the rest of her life. But, if that works for you then great. I think it's good to have a signature scent, AND a few extra fragrances that compliment a few of your moods and feelings....Cause you know we have a lot!

P.S. I'm over British week, but I'll leave you with a  cheerio!!!

MAC's Give Me Liberty of London Collection

Liberty of London again??? Yep. MAC's newest collection, Give Me Liberty of London, definitely springs us forward with bright pink lips and dirty plum cheeks. The brands kaleidoscopic/boho chic patterns are featured on MAC’s compacts, lipsticks, eye shadows, powder, blusher, nail lacquers and accessories. There is also a specially-designed Liberty of London scarf for $95. I basically want the collection just for the container. I wanna be “Brit wit and bohemian chic”......Cheerios!

Wellness Wednesday: Stella McCartney for Adidas

Lauren just got back from chillin' in Cali, so I'm taking over Wellness Wednesday. I'm sporting wellness training wheels, so my post is going to have a fashion theme.

Stella McCartney, the famous British fashion designer, launched a joint-venture with Adidas in 2004 for a line of fashionable workout clothing. Her items are definitely on the pricey side! The collection includes apparel for swim, gym, running, tennis and winter sports, as well as bags. Here are my favorites:

Pineapple Tank $65;Yoga Gilet $130

Stella Print Tights, $85; Kjorierunner Textile Shoes $160
Yoga Mat $50

I purchase workout clothes from Target, TJ Maxx, or Rugged Wearhouse. I don't know if I can justify paying $60 for a tank top that I'm about to get really sweaty in spin class (when I attend). For those of us who won't, I say go to Target. Check out a few of my favorite items:

Champion Tank, $14.99; Champion Graphic Tank $12.99

Champion Hoodie $19.99; Champion Running Tights $21.99
Natural Fitness Yoga Mat $39.99

Regardless of where you shop for workout clothing, if you feel like you are wearing something cute,  maybe hopefully it'll encourage you to be active . One of my goals this year is to run a 3K. Maybe if I treat myself to a new workout outfit, it will encourage me to train....HAHA....ask me in a few months.... Cherrios!

Topshop

Since I'm doing all things British, I have to discuss Topshop. Topshop is a famous British retail chain that most people in the US associate with Kate Moss, who debuted her first collection for the chain back in 2007.

I was in NYC last year during the opening weekend of Topshop's first US store, and it was BANANAS (of course in Rachel Zoe's voice)!!!!  While Topshop is very cool and edgy, it's also a bit over priced and some items are uber British. However, they normally have a couple of pieces that will catch your eye. Their SS 2010 collection includes Body Amour. Here are a few of my favorites....

Love these pants....but can't find them on the website....

Some other pieces I'm eying.....cheerios!:

Alexander McQueen's Final Collection

In continuing with all things British, it's very bitter sweet, but the final collection Alexander McQueen's created before his tragic death was shown last week in Paris.

McQueen referred to the collection as "Angels and Demons" days before his death. The collection was inspired by Medieval art which was evident by the models who wore banded heads (sometimes with mohawk-like gold feathers) and severe nude faces reminiscent of Madonnas and Byzantine royals.
On a different note, Alexander McQueen designed a capsule collection for Target last year. I slept on it and of course now I want this dress.....to eBay I go.....cheerio!

Liberty of London for Tar-zhey (Target)

I am a print fanatic! I don't limit prints to just clothing, but expand them to my home too! When I read last year  Liberty of London was coming to Tar-zhey, I almost pooped my pants.....well, not really!!! Liberty of London is a British luxury brand known for its iconic floral prints. Their line for Target includes fashion for men, women and children, as well as home decor. Keep in mind the line was adapted for Target. So instead of silk, the items are going to be cotton and polyester.

The collaboration was scheduled to hit stores today, but I knew a few Target stores wouldn't follow directions and put items out early. So I rolled through on Friday and Saturday to find most of the home good items on shelves. I had been looking for a new patterned comforter to pair with my antique wrought iron bed from the early 1900's. I've always had pattern in my bedroom, but really wanted to up the ante.....

I also picked up a pillow for a chair in my living room:

A candle for wine bar..sorry it's hard to see:

A dress that is Corporate Chic approved or even for church:

And a tray. Not sure where to put it?? Might eBay it since it's sold out in stores and online.....

I am official banned from purchasing anything else from Target!!! But adding prints to the home is a quick and cheap way to redress furniture, and a great way to add personal style. Here are a few of my other favorites from Liberty of London:

Candles $9.99; Lamp $19.99, Shade $17.99
Pillows $16.99-19.99

Mugs $4.99; Dessert Tray $14.99
3-pc. Baby Bedding Set $99.99; Baby Quilt $29.99; Romper $9.99
Boxers $5.99; Bicycle $199.99

Romper $19.99; Trench $44.99; Dress $34.99
