Let It Shine

My neighborhood is well-lit with Christmas trees and holiday decor!! I may purchase a wreath to avoid looking like Ebenezer Scrooge. But to be honest, I think decorating myself in sparkly, sequin clothing and accessories will provide equal holiday cheer!

Sequin items are a perfect way to glam up your wardrobe for holiday parties or even just a night out. Here are a few of my favorite sequin looks.....

Happy Thanksgiving

Holidays & Occasions
Happy Thanksgiving!!!! My contribution to Thanksgiving lunch will consist of confirming the time and place of the reservation. Tough job, but I'm the women to do it!

This year I am thankful for all the blessings I received. Some I probably didn't deserve but God blessed me anyway. All the fun times I spent with friends, for being alive January 20, 2009, to witness history and most importantly, for my family both past and present.

While I have my opinion about the war, I am thankful for the soldiers who are oversees protecting our country. I know their families are praying and missing them dearly. While I am busy laughing, catching up with my loves ones today, their families will stare at the empty seat at the dinner table, they will notice there is one less person on the couch watching the basketball game, they will have one less person to recap the funny and stressful events of the day. So today I say THANK YOU for your heroic efforts!

Rated R

Rihanna's album release party for Rated R took place last night at Juliet's Supper Club in New York. Rihanna's new album is only 99 cents on Amazon.com until Friday if you use the "$3 in MP3s" code MP34Free to purchase. Think I'll splurge!

Rihanna showed up fashionable late wearing a gold spiked sequined dress by noir jewelry for The Blonds and Louboutins. She left in a red spiked shoulder dress. In the words of my friend Nija...The gold dress is nasty! This is the Rihanna that I heart! Sexy Vixen.

The Blonds are known for their corsets and their pieces are for women who dare to be different. Check out a few celebs rocking The Blonds........

Fade to Black

I'm so happy ombre survived another season!!!! For those that are wondering, ombre isn't a TV show or a character on The Young and the Restless. Ombre refers to a gradual change in fabric shade from light to dark. It's like the big sister to tie-dye but more refined and deliberate.

I love obmre because the shading effect minimizes the areas that most women don't want to draw attention to and highlights those areas that are most flattering. Here are some of my favorite ombre trends this season.......

Ombre nail effect created by Calgel liquid overlay

Don't Call It A Comeback

Unfortunately J.Lo's performance of "Louboutins" at the AMA's was wack and she fell. Call me crazy, but I thought she would wear Louboutins since that's the name of her song. But instead, she wore hightop glitter keds. Well, that's what I'm calling them and I'm being generous and I refuse to post a photo. It appears she decided to save her Bridget Peep Toe Louboutin Boots for rehearsal??? She also rocked the boots for her video "Fresh Out the Oven." What do you think...Yah or Nay. Because I like J. Lo, I'm going to charge a 'yah' to the game!

A few celebs have been seen out and about wearing their Bridget Louboutin Boots...
Sarah Jessica Parker

Scarlett Johansson

Key to My Heart

I've found the key to my heart!!! I know it's totally backwards for a female to state this but I'm certain that my heart requires a Tiffany & Co. key.

The Tiffany Keys Collection launched in February 2009 and is inspired by keys from the Tiffany & Co. Archives. These exquisitely crafted vintage keys unlocked jewelry and keepsake boxes, albums, diaries and steamer trunks, as well as a recent addition-my heart! The keys range in price from $225 to $17K.

For a more affordable and antiqued key necklace, the handmade Simple Skeleton Key necklace by Erica Weiner is the way to go. Each key is different and may date back to 1850. While the Tiffany & Co. keys are beautiful luxury items, I think Erica Weiner's keys are more unique and obviously easier on the wallet at $30.

Recently a co-worker asked me for gift ideas. I think it would be a great gift to purchase a keepsake box for a loved one, fill it with memories and make a necklace out of the key.

Louboutins and J.Lo

Jennifer Lopez aka J.Lo, first single has leaked, "Louboutins," from her upcoming album "Love?" She is scheduled to perform the song tonight on the American Music Awards. I love my Louboutins, but this song makes me want to bypass the tan boxes my Louboutins are resting in and pick up some Dr. Scholls off my closet floor!!!! Maybe I will be swayed after seeing her perform the song live tonight. Do you love it.....Yah or Nay?

Relax, Relate, Release...It's Friday

In the words and southern drawl of Whitley Gilbert from A Different World, 'relax, relate, release'- it's Friday! My all time favorite sitcoms were birthed in the 80's-The Cosby Show, A Different World and Golden Girls. As the ol' folks say, 'they just don't make um like they use too.' NBC was the place to be....Thursday night was Cosby at 8 and A Different World at 8:30. Saturday night was Golden Girls.

A Different World was the first and maybe the only sitcom that highlighted student life at a historically black college- Hillman. Remember The Pit?? The show also tackled political and social issues that were rarely discussed on other comedy sitcoms- AIDS, rape, race, social classes, etc. It's so hard to pick a favorite episode because they all were so good. The show was embedded with culture, fashion, history, music and a message!

All 6 seasons of A Different World are now available on DVD. This would make an excellent Christmas gift. What's your favorite 80's sitcom??

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

Few words are needed for this post. The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show went down last night in NYC. I do need to briefly discuss Heidi Klum....Where in the hell does her baby weight go?

The famous $3 million bra. Undecided about adding it to my Christmas list.

I'm in Love......

I'm in love with a fictional character who happens to be a vampire! I didn't think it could happen to me. I heard stories of women falling victim but I thought I was different, much stronger. If you are a Twilight fan there is no explanation needed. If you aren't, you're missing out.

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" is in theaters on Friday. I'll probably just skip work tomorrow to see it, wear my vampire teeth and my 'I heart Vampires' bedazzled, puffpaint shirt. Nothing too fancy. I think I'll also bring my New Moon book with my Snuggie light so that I can follow the movie chapter by chapter. Just keeping it chill and classy!

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are on the December issue of Harper's Bazaar and look f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s.
